I joined the 8th group Aliyah flight from South Africa which left on 20th December 2010 with 48 Olim.
The group included young people who could not wait to join the army before they will take up their studies to prepare themselves for a career and a future in Israel. There were also several young families with small children and some elderly people, some of whom joined children already in Israel.
The Olim were so surprised to learn that there are Christians in South Africa who supports them to make aliyah. They could not stop thanking me and the whole Ebenezer for our love and support. I had wonderful opportunities to share with them and to listen to all their stories. It was really a very special group of people, so open, friendly and grateful for everything. Within 2 days it felt as though I made a lot of new friends and then had to leave them behind to return to South Africa.
I was also asked to share a few words on behalf of Ebenezer at the welcome ceremony at the Kotel. It was a great privilege and the words were well received by the joint group of Olim from South Africa, England, Australia and New Zealand.
It was once again a great experience to be part of the Aliyah in such a practical way. I thank God for the privilege to be called into this holy work of God.
