Safest Place in
the World
for a Jew |
|
During these tumultuous days of war and terrorism,
worldwide economic upheaval, and escalating
anti-Semitism, where is the safest place in the
world for a Jew? In Israel, of course. And I say
that from the vantage point of a Jew who has made
aliyah (immigrated to Israel) from the United
States. |
 |
|
With rockets falling on southern Israel and Israeli troops fighting
in Gaza, you may not understand my perspective, especially if you
live comfortably in the Diaspora. But let us take a look at the
perspective of God—the LORD God of Israel. Also, bear in mind that
Diaspora Jewish life will not remain comfortable for very long—if
you believe the Bible and if you simply look around and see what is
happening in the world today. |
 |
|
You
see our God has a plan—a good plan—for both the world and the Jews,
and it involves Him, us, and this Land. Let us examine just a few
promises of God from one of the major Jewish prophets, Ezekiel (for
complete understanding, I recommend reading entirely chapters 34
through 39), to know the key elements of His wonderful plan: |
 |
|
Safety:
And
they shall no more be a prey to the nations, neither shall the beast
of the earth devour them; but they shall dwell safely, and none
shall make them afraid
(Ezekiel 34:28
JPS). |
 |
|
Aliyah:
And
I will multiply men upon you, all the house of Israel, even all
of it; and the cities shall be inhabited, and the waste places
shall be builded (Ezekiel 36:10 JPS). |
 |
|
Relationship with God:
And
ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye
shall be My people, and I will be your God (Ezekiel
36:28 JPS). |
 |
|
Messianic kingdom:
And I will
make them one nation in the land, upon the mountains of Israel, and
one king shall be king to them all…My
servant David shall be king over them…
(Ezekiel 37:22, 24 JPS). |
 |
|
So in these days of increasing uncertainty, again I ask you, where can
you, as a Jew, put your trust? I can confidently assure you, here in
Israel, under the shadow of the LORD God of Israel’s wings (Psalm 91). |
