Corporate Prayer |
There are many prayer partners in this ministry who
pray on their own, and we thank you for your commitment to the place of
prayer; you are highly valued. But please be encouraged, whenever
possible, to meet regularly with a prayer partner or group. A
priority call in this new season is to learn how to pray corporately.
Here, at right, are some simple guidelines to help you. |
1. Commitment to
the call
(Romans 12:1) |
This commitment is first to the Lord and
then to the prayer-group members. We listen
to the Lord in our own hearts and
in one another. Our prayer is corporate,
so we say "we," rather than "I," when we
pray, and we say "amen" when there is agreement. |
2. Praise and thanksgiving
(Philippians
4:6, 7) |
a. Offer thanks to God. |
b.
Cast off personal anxieties, burdens. |
c.
Lay down personal agendas. |
3. Clean hands and a pure heart
(Psalm
24:3, 4) |
Yeshua teaches us that effective prayer
is inextricably linked to our
willingness to forgive
(Matthew 5:23,
24;
6:12, 14,
15;
Mark 11:25, 26). |
4. Waiting on the Lord
(Romans 8:26, 27) |
| |
Acknowledge dependency upon the Holy
Spirit. Be prepared to listen. |
5. God's Word—a lamp to
our feet
(Psalm 119:105) |
| |
Meditate on Scripture, at
least for a short while. |
6. Proclamation of the
Lordship of Yeshua
(Philippians 2:5–11) |
Proclaim the Lordship of Yeshua
and His victory on the cross. |
7. Agreement
(Matthew 18:19, 20) |
Agree on the prayer
subject, and continue with it until the
burden has lifted. Truly effective
prayer and spiritual warfare depend upon
unity in the group, as well as exalting the
name
of the Lord and His
Word over opposition
(Psalm 138:2). |
