The story of Yvette illustrates how flexible, sensitive and prepared we need to be as we help Jewish people in the UK make Aliyah. It is not for us all to be able to meet their needs in such a hands-on way. For some of us in the South East and manchester we get opportunities to go to meetings where the Olim will be present so that we can befriend, build relationships and listen to their touching and sometimes dramatic stories of why they are making Aliyah. They are always amazed that gentiles are assisting them to go back to Israel. Most of us can however cover in prayer the flights in 2011.
On the last four UK Group Flights sponsered by Ebenezer, we have been touched, as unsolicited, the Jewish Agency Aliyah team in Israel have stated without the sponsership of Ebenezer they would not be able to provide "Aliyah on a Red Carpet", and the work would not be possible. We now have credibility and have gained a level of trust with many different agencies within Israel because of our ongoing commitment and the financial support from all of you.
The Jewish people tend to be very practical by nature and whilst they are pleased to receive words of affirmation they are even more impcted by the practical "love in action" which they see in the sponsership of "Aliyah on a Red Carpet".
We realise that this work may only be for a season and could stop suddenly. We need an average of £12k per flight e.g. £60 for all five flights and would encourgae you to prayerfully consider how you can help.
